Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent (GED) required.
- Valid Commercial Driver’s License (CDL).
- Completion of a professional truck driving program preferred.
- Proven experience as a tractor-trailer driver with a strong safety record.
- Clean driving history with solid knowledge of truck and trailer maintenance practices.
- Proficient in route planning and navigation using both traditional maps and GPS systems.
- Ability to work extended and irregular hours while maintaining focus and alertness.
- Strong organizational and time-management abilities.
- Thorough understanding of federal and state regulations governing road freight transportation.
- Excellent communication and problem-solving skills.
Responsibilities
- Safely transport freight to various destinations, including long-haul routes.
- Plan and follow the most efficient routes to ensure timely deliveries.
- Conduct pre-trip inspections of trucks and trailers to confirm proper working condition.
- Verify and document load inventory, including the condition of freight prior to departure.
- Assist with loading and unloading freight, and secure client acknowledgment upon delivery.
- Properly secure cargo and monitor its safe placement throughout the journey.
- Perform routine service checks such as tire pressure, oil, and fluid levels, and carry out minor repairs as needed.
- Maintain accurate logs of driving hours, rest breaks, mileage, fuel usage, repairs, and toll expenses.
- Report delays caused by traffic, accidents, weather, or mechanical issues to management.
- Comply with federal and state trucking laws, including rest period requirements, weight limits, and load adjustments.
